In Christmases past, we've had to wait until after Santa's visit to snap up deep discounts on decorations.
This season, retailers are slashing prices before the holiday. At Eckerd pharmacies, the entire stock of trees, ornaments and light sets is half price. Ditto for Rite Aid, which also offers 50-percent markdowns on boxed Christmas cards, garlands and outdoor decorations. Marshall's has trimmed 25 percent off the price of decorations.
So if you're planning a Christmas Eve get-together, holiday brunch or are hosting Christmas dinner, here's a chance to put on the dog while the goose is roasting. No one will know you spent less!

Speaking of discounts this late into the season, think anyone is discounting gift wrap just yet? Trying to be frugal, I bought HUGE rolls about five years ago - and I've still got paper left. Well, I'm so tired of the prints that I gave away those rolls at the office today. I won't feel guilty about buying all new paper since it's going to good use, but I need paper.
