Sweet on Mr. Peanut

Like most folks, I've thought of Mr. Peanut as a salty soul, a dry character who likes to hang out at bars.

But the holidays have brought out his sweet side. Planters, Mr. Peanut's dad, has introduced three treats designed to appeal to folks who like a bit of dessert with their nuts.

Cashew Mocha Delight teams nuts with a coating of milk chocolate and genuine coffee. Butter Toasted Nut Treasures is a trio of peanuts, pecans and walnuts, all presented in toasted butter. And Chocolate Almond Crunch reflects its name. The nuts are first dipped in toffee and then get a chocolate treatment.

Expect to pay about $3 for a six-ounce package. Look for pouches decorated in nostalgic holiday scenes.
