Penney's woos shoppers with deep discounts
When I saw the JCPenney circular this morning, one word leaped out at me: SALE.
That's a good four-letter word.
Penney's is luring Saturday shoppers with a one-day event that features some buys that might redefine the word CHEAP. Expect a pillow fight among shoppers intent on buying The Hunk, the retailer's own super firm pillow, marked down from $11.99 to $3.99. As my mom says, you couldn't make it yourself for that price.
Doorbusters, available from 8 a.m.-1 p.m., include 70 percent off the entire stock of gold jewelry, 60 percent off sterling silver jewelry and 40 percent off kids' shoes.
Penney's also is appealing to couponers with additional savings on mid-price merchandise. You can clip $10 off a single purchase of $50 or more and $15 off a single purchase of $75 and up. The offer is valid in stores, catalogs or via the online store, www.jcp.com
You can redeem the coupon today but you will have to wait for Saturday for the doorbusters.
