Make mine soft boiled, please

Most folks know Chef's Choice as the company that makes great knife sharpeners. In fact, we've been slicing effortlessly through tomatoes ever since we got one at home.

But did you know Chef's Choice also makes a premium egg cooker that can boil hen fruit just the way you want it?

The stainless-steel dome looks good enough to leave out on the kitchen counter. Inside, the cooker allows you to serve up to seven eggs in varying degrees of doneness -- soft, medium or hard boiled. The cooker also features a poaching tray with three, joined elliptical shaped cups

Chef's Choice says that's a tribute to Julia Child, my culinary idol, who preferred a similarly shaped holder when poaching eggs.

Perhaps the best benefit of having a gadget like this is you have to come up with ideas on how you can make the best use of it. Among the options I might consider are having twins, so I'll cook breakfast more often, and inviting friends to brunch on a regular basis.

I'm leaning toward brunch.

The egg cooker retails for about $30 and can be found at a variety of kitchen specialty stores, in addition to Amazon.com.

So I guess the only difference from the old fashioned methods of boiling eggs in a pan is that you can make some soft boiled and some hard boiled? Might come in handy every once in a while.
