Quick! Hide the Macy's bags!
I got a big kick out of the PayPal poll on love and money, especially the finding that 82 percent of life partners hide purchases from one another.
It brought back childhood memories of a little game Mom taught my sisters and I to play, called Don't Let Daddy See the Shopping Bags.
This is how it goes. The wife -- that would be Mom -- goes shopping with four little girls -- my sisters Roni, Nancy, Becky and I -- in tow and returns home with a Chevy station wagon filled with bags containing new clothes.
But when she pulls up to the house, her husband is home!
The wife and the kids put the bags on the floor of the car, where they won't be easily spotted. They stroll inside the house with innocent eyes and empty hands.
As soon as the husband -- that would be Dad -- leaves the house, five pairs of eyes watch as he rounds the corner. When the coast is clear, everybody dashes to the Chevy, grabs a bag and hightails it into the house quick like a bunny.
"Don't leave any tags laying around!" Mom would say.
The survey says women are most likely to stash receipts from dinners and drinks out with the girls.
Hmm. I wonder how many of them played Don't Let Daddy See the Shopping Bags?

Some things never change. It reminds me of when Ricky would come home from the club and find Lucy surrounded by hatboxes
